ok, so I am getting the occasional BSOD.

Firstly may I state, ths system has been super stable for a very, very long time.

Last week in the heat I had one or two BSOD and I saw the code and it seemed to be related to my GPU -

I went dust- off happy & hoovered everything out...the weather cooled...problem no more...happy days.

It now seems I am getting a random BSOD when changing from in game - back to desktop and back into a game (with Chrome open for Discord chatting).

The error screen did not last long enough to get the code (unlike the GPU error earlier) so I downloaded and installed the Windows debugging toolkit.

here is the read of today's BSOD (it won't let me copy and paste...booooo) :(

and I doubt you can read that screen, so here it is:

Bugcheck 116 (this code was last week too- GPU again ??)

{fffffa80132d73e0 , fffff88003e17c74

Video_TDR_FAILURE (116)

attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed

arguments:
Arg1: fffffa80132d73e0 Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery contect (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT)

Arg2: fffff88003e17c74 The pointer into responsible devide driver module (e.g. owner tag)

Arg3: 00000000000000 Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation
Arg4: 00000000000002 Optional internal context dependant data

erm...I am lost :)

When was the last time you install drivers and how you did so?
Also when was the last time you format your system?
Video_TDR_FAILURE (116) is common issue with Nvidia cards when drivers dlls are overlapping, not AMD cards.

Hence I would advice you, back up everything and do a clean windows installation.

Gulp :(

My system was reinstalled with Win 7 in January.

The first BSOD was 20th July, a day or so after I installed 16.7.2,

In any event, I uninstalled 16.7.2 and used DDU to remove all AMD drivers and went back to 16.6.1 fingers crossed stability returns.
