0-60 in 3.9, 170 top end - 60mpg!!!

I think it looks kinda qurkey, although on the trident web page it states that the low consumption would be 400rpm in 8th gear returning just over 50mpg.... my car would stall at that low rev's most cars idle at over 500rpm!

So its real. Looks like a mock up in their press photos.

Must say it looks much better in the flesh. Especially as its not in that vile orange.

Wonder if they'll let you buy it with the petrol engine. :p

Oh it's real allright.

Those with a good knowledge of motor racing will know the name Eric Broadley ex of Lola and the main designer behind the Ford GT40, (I am sure everyone here knew the original Ford GT40 was totally British designed, engineered, and built, didn't they?).

Anyway, Eric did a Victor Kiam thing, when he found out about the start of this project, back at the motorshow in 1999, he liked it so much, he bought the company.

So he became the mastermind behind the development and design of the basics of the car. As with all his cars it was designed from the ground up to go round corners very quickly.

However after some funding problems in 2004, I believe Trident (based in Norfolk) and Eric Broadly went seperate ways.

Since then more funding has been found, a new chief designer (Phill Bevan) has been brought on board, and the car has gone bio-diesel.

The basic Broadly chassis is still there so hopefully it will still handle well.

I drove one of the early petrol prototypes, and it was brilliant, I have seen a new one but have not driven it as yet, that is a project for early next year at work.

Audi quoted that the weight of their oil burner in the race car was comparable to a similar sized version of their petrol engine. With a bit of careful design there's no reason why it should be much heavier.
do you mean the weight of the diesel car itself was comparable to the petrol version, or the engines themselves?
a diesel block is very heavy compared to a petrol block but if they've found some way to shave weight from the lump then that's a pretty good acheivement in my book.

nice reference. ;) .

Probably lost on some of the younger forum members though. :)

btw, slightly OT but, doing what you do, is there anything you haven't driven that you've REALLY wanted to drive?
i'm curious.

Really I have not driven that many supercars.
We ususally only get the real low production/one off sort of cars.

Any of the real major supercar manufacturers have their own test facilities and so we don't get much of a look in apart from special events.

For instance I have never driven any Ferrari or Lamborghini, or any other Porsche apart from mine and a friends 1996 911 Turbo. So too have a good go in any of them would be nice.

The only one that really springs to mind as being "The One Car", I would give anything to have a chance to drive, would be a McLaren F1 GT "long tail".

As (IMO)the ultimate example of a road going F1, I would love the chance to sample that, also as there are and ever will be only three in existence it would be a nice thing to say I have driven one.

i think the long tail is the same car that Flibster has driven, or it might have been the LM i can't remember which.

for me there are two cars that i HAVE to drive at least once in my life.
well the former more than the latter but i've been in both and have failed to make the transition from passenger seat to the "big chair"

1.the Mac F1.
with a slight suspension modification i believe this is the perfect sports car.

2.Sue Collins' Ford RS200E.unique as in it's a one of a kind.
it doesn't get much more exclusive than number one of a production run of one. lol.

ain't driven either, and believe me i've tried.
