0 degrees difference between room and core temp

This is as idle with fans full but is it possible to get a 0 degree difference? :o

Also if there's an 8 degree difference between cores would you reseat the block?
 
No chance there would be no difference between your core and room temps unless your pc is off.

Sounds like a dodgy temp sensor rather than poor seating is more likely for your core to core temp difference.

Your cpu must be making some heat. And if it WAS at room temperature the fans/heatsink would be doing nothing (as there would no net heat transfer) so this means your cpu is making zero heat.... :eek:

Is it an fx CPU?

Their sensors are more accurate as they approach their thermal limit, supposedly so that they throttle at the correct temperature. My old FX use to report temps as low as 8 degrees when idle but under load with a hefty overclock, the temperature leveled out at sensible levels. Idle temps are not really worth a second thought.
 
I think if you want to cool the object below room temperature, you would need something that is colder than room temperature to cool the rads / loop / components.
 
What CPU do you have? I have a 9 degree difference between my hottest and coldest core.

Pretty common on sandybridge processors from what I've read.
 
On hasswell-E if its 8-9'c difference and the cores are at the same performance level then re-seat for sure.

Theirs literally 1'c or .5'c difference on my 5930k At idle and stress.

You should re-seat (Full clean+check pins for any excess paste in there.)
 
Rather than a sensor error could just be the program used is reading the wrong sensor, or the sensor used to take your room temp is in a warmer part of the room.

Some numpty fitted my central heating sensor above a radiator, so the heating goes off when the house is still cold cause the air directly above the rad is much warmer. THe air under my PC which is been used to cool the rad is a lot cooler that the air around my room temp sensor.
 
My gpu idles at approximately room temperature. CPU like to idle around 10 to 20C above the room temp.

As for temp difference between cores, core 0 on my 2550k always runs 10C+ cooler than the other cores. Been through 2 heatsinks and a WC loop, countless remounts - always the same.
 
8 to 9 degrees under load between hottest and coolest cores is quite normal.
You can try re-seating to see if that helps, but if it doesn't I wouldn't worry.

My 5820k has 9 degrees between the hottest (#5) and coolest (#6)

I spent a few hours yesterday testing water jet nozzles and re-seated the water block several times in doing so.
With the Temps changing with the different nozzles used the same 9 degree's remained between 5 and 6
