02 Refresh

Which they could communicate a bit better. This is basically SIMO + Handset on credit.

That's exactly it. I think O2 are banking on the people who want to change phones often will repeatedly change phone, and stick with O2; so they're happy to waive the tariff because they're going to be getting circa ~£500 off you for the phone.

HMMM interested........

question is - will the handset still be worth the value of what we need to cover when its time to upgrade.....
Also - can we sell the handset anyway we want or do we have to go through o2 recycle scheme only?

I'd jump for this in a heartbeat - just a shame its o2 :(
Unfortunately rubbish reception both at home and at work so no go for me.

They explain what happens in order to pay off the phone when you want a new one. There doesn't seem to be an explanation of what happens once you have done that, and actually got your new shiny upgraded phone. Are you engaged in a new 24 months contract for just the phone, or both the phone and airtime. I don't think it's a bad thing as such, but it would be nice if they made it clear.

One of the better benefits I see of this is that if you keep your phone and airtime for the full 24 months, the phone is paid off, and rather than having to try and jump ship asap or pick something you don't want, it defaults to just the airtime, which is nice. No more having to pay silly amounts after the contract has expired.

It's all in there to be fair.

The 24 month duration is for the phone and you can end it early by clearing the phone price. A while a go there was a good deal on the S4 I think which made it cheaper than buying it SIM free, so people would buy it on O2 Refresh and then pay off the phone after a week and then they are free to use their existing SIM.

As soon as you have paid off the cost of the phone you are no longer locked into the air time, so you are free to move to another network if you wished or even get another phone on O2.
