So I return home from work this evening and find out that once again my Mother, by her own admission, has been a victim of the wonder world of telesales.

Anyway, to cut a long story short he has been upgraded from a Pay & Go tariff to, for some reason or another, a pay monthly one with a shiny new phone

I had a look at the contract/conformation she received and I am extremely confused about the message allowance.

Could anyone please care to explain what these mean and the difference between the two?

I'm thinking someone has messed up when writing that, heh. No difference.

If you login to o2 online (or create an account), it will tell you there what it actually is. Otherwise just phone them...

Ouch, a 24 month contract with not much to show for it. I would take advantage of the cooling off period and cancel. Then tell your mum to not listen to salesmen on the phone or front door and deal with them with the 2 step plan.

Step 1. "No thank you, I am not interested"
Step 2. "P!## off, I told you I am not interested"

Fair enough if you are happy with it. Though personally it would have to be an awesome phone to be worth 24x£10.50. For what is essentially a text plan. If she rarely phones and only texts then that is a good deal.
