If you were buying from a website, say you were in London and the telephone number was a Glasgow phone number, would you be less likely to buy from a regular 0141 number?

Im looking at switching to 0845 so that I can track calls better and have more national look to the site.

I dont want to waste money but as a lot of our customers phone us up, would I benefit from an 0845 number?

Opinions?

I'd prefer a local number - 0845 numbers cost more money and they often aren't included in free UK landline minutes so this would put me off from dialling it.

Yeah, anything that starts with 08 costs money on a mobile, even 0800. As the mobile is my only phone, I'd prefer the Glasgow number. When I used to operate a tech support line, I gave my customers the options of either an 0808 number (free on landlines) or a local number (free on mobiles).

For 0800 numbers, I use 0800 Buster, just dial 01228 25 0800 then enter the number you want (including code) and hit hash and it'll forward it on and come out of your free minutes.

0845 numbers are just annoying.

I think this is the wrong place to ask about this as most people are not as informed but as we have had the 0845 debates before most people know about it costong more ect.

could you keep the current number and use 0845? 0845 does look more professional

I would still keep our other number, it would purely be for web sales.

Current deals on bt give a certain allowance of free calls to 0845 and I think 0870, so I'm not too arsed. Pain in the neck on a mobile, mind you, as I don't think they come out of contracted minutes.
