My 09 Focus 1.6 petrol has developed a weird noise when coming off the accelerator to change gear or slow down :/
At around 1.5-2k rpm, usually when switching between 2nd and 3rd, the engine emits a brief but loud buzzing/vibrating noise like cogs not quite catching/grinding. It's definitely caused by bringing the accelerator up - not the break or clutch. It's sometimes possible to reproduce when idle or reversing but it's not as significant.
It doesn't always happen and it can be difficult to reproduce but since It's still under warranty the local ford garage are going to take a look for me tomorrow.
I'm a noob when it comes to engines and mechanics (slowly learning) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for things I could get the mechanic to look at?
Probably unrelated - minor rough idle.
Other than that the engine performs admirably!
