0xc000001d Errors

Hello,

A bit at the end of my tether here so I wonder if anyone could help?

The problem with my PC (as per signature) started yesterday I think.

I installed the latest Chrome browser build and it wouldn't start. Nor would it uninstall. Every time I tried to un or reinstall I got "Error 0xc000001d : The application would not start correctly".

I rebooted into safe mode, removed it from my system, installed another build, and all was fine. However when I restarted the PC, the BIOS hung at detecting my SSD main drive (AHCI Port 0). It had simply vanished from the system.

I took my PC to bits, resecured the cables, and it started fine again.

Now, when I try and run MS Office I get the same error as above. Similarly the uninstaller for that. It runs fine in safe mode however.

Scanned for Malware - all clear - and have a fully updated virus and security suite. Have also run sfc /scannow.

Can anyone help with what's going on please?

The only thing I can think of is that I ran O&O defrag for the first time 2 days ago, and I'm sure that uses TRIM commands on the SSD.

Perhaps that's what's damaged it?

Or is something failing (I'm thinking SSD or RAM)?

A couple of weeks ago I had a random BSOD loop that seemed to solve itself after not being able to boot a few times. Perhaps that was linked?

Please help :(

EDIT : Full system as below, mobo is Asus P7p55D, SSD is Crucial M4 64GB. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Defrag software is not needed these days yet people are set in there old ways. a lot of our customers still do it because it used to speed their win 98 pc up slightly.

Defragging a SSD is a big no no

No, I definitely didn't run a defrag and have the in-buillt defrag service disabled. I also have the latest SSD firmware :)

I've reinstalled Windows - see how it goes.

Your original post says otherwise

" The only thing I can think of is that I ran O&O defrag for the first time 2 days ago"

Perhaps think if there are/were any other things that you did/didnt do ?..this may help in the future :)

I ran o&o defrag on the 2TB mechanical HDD I have inside my PC that I use for storage, putting large games on etc. Sorry for not making that clear.
