so sorry for this post as i know theres a few about chavs but tonight nearly resulted in a serious accident.

Driving along normally coming off a roundabout I was in my brothers 80 BHP megane 1.5 DCI (he was driving). now I know not a fast car by most standards but the corsa came off the roundabout and into the outside lane and simply didnt have the umph to overtake.

so pulled in behind. not a problem.

anyway a few miles later we were behind a truck with a people carrier in between and the chav running about 6 inches from our rear obviously upset that his 1.0ltr corsa wasnt fast enough. again not a problem although a tad irritating. but then he pulled a overtakig manouvere with no room and oncoming traffic so we had to brake to let him in before he went oncoming with a car.

at this point were obviously a tad annoyed but still thinking "what the hell who cares no one got hurt" when he slams his brakes on for no other reason than to make us brake, my brother put the brakes to the floor to avoid the accident but then we get him and his two chavesses giving us the finger etc through the back window

I mean why !

almost cause an accident and send abuse for the sake of his car not being powerful enough and also risking getting a beating :p for overtaking 4 people in a megane for nothing ?

what goes through these peoples minds  ?

you should have put your full beams on and hooted your horn for the time he was in front of you, slowing pulling back and accelarating upto him with an angry look on your face... this would make him think you're insane.
Nothing else you could really do to get through to these idiots

Been there and got the T-Shirt, I pray ever time i see a chav, boy racer that they will plant there car into a tree. Heck it does happen quite a lot.

Save it for the track, not a road that is not designed for speading.

The same thing happend on the M6, some guy wanted to boot out of 2 into 3, we pulled back into 2nd and he slamed on, we over took him and my Dad was ready for killing him, 4 of us in the car, the guy never even had the courage to look at us when we went past.

would have loved to of seen my dad ex rugby union player facing a 25 year old chav.

If he (clearly) wanted past how come you didnt pull over to let him past earlier and avoid incident?

I pulled over to let a corsa that was wanting to travel faster than I wanted past me last month. No skin off my nose. I noted that the car in front was molested for miles by the corsa 1 ft off his bumper. The car in front had the oportunity to do what I did and let the boy racer (hypocritical from me) past aswell which is better than having a dangerous loon up your bumper imho.

Who really knows, they dont seem to realise that had your mate not have been on the ball then their car would have got the **** beaten out of it aswell.

This is going to be controversial..... if you were leaving enough space ebtween you and the vehicle in front, surely he'd have been able to pull back in without a problem.

However, it's totally inexcusable either way for him to brake on perpose and gesture insults in that way.

I think he did leave enough space, the corsa simply didnt have enough power to get into quick enough.

That wasn't clear from the opening post, but in which case my apologies and it sounds like the Corsa was 100% to blame.

I read the post as "the corsa tried to overtake the OP, people carrier, and lorry all in one go - but a car appeared the other way so he had to pull in". If OP's brother had to slam on in order for the corsa to pull in, he was driving too close to the car in front.

I do a lot of overtaking in my day to day driving, and the situation is commonplace. A lorry, being followed by 2 or 3 cars, all unable/unwilling to overtake. Quite often, they are so closely spaced, that it makes overtaking the queue one by one impossible, and you have to wait for the roadspace to get them all at once - which is very frustrating.

On the other hand, there have been occasions, when I'm in the middle of a 5-6 car overtake on a big piece of road, when the situation changes up ahead, and I want to pull back over in good time. Quite often I find that through either ignorance, or sheer spite, the overtakees have closed up the gaps, and often refuse to let me back in, resulting in having to push my way back in.

I've entered into RL overtaking debates before, with people saying "what gives you the right to go faster than everyone else?", to which I reply "nothing does, but what gives you the right to hold others up?". They say about the gap closers: "that's fair enough on their part, overtaking is at your own risk." To which I reply "Yes it is. But so is crossing the road as a pedestrian. And you wouldn't be very happy if I ran out into the road and pushed you over, just as a car is coming, would you?"

Sorry, touchy subject for me!

Then on a straight indicate left and dont accelerate much like you do for entry level caterfields on track days?

driving up the m6 yesterday with 3 of my basketball team, i was in the slow lane as i was leadin the way for someone else, and some chavs in a bubble shape rover slowly overtook with their fingers up....i mean wtf :S why?! would've loved for it to happen on a road where pulling over was possible, i was the smallest person in the car at 6'4 and 15 stone, other three were 6'6 6'7 and 6'9, with the following car having a 6'6 beast, 6'5 and a couple of athletic 6 footers :p would've been worth it to see their faces :/

I wish I would get this sort of behaviour as I would waste them.

Im 13 stone and only 5ft 11.

Its all muscle :D

I've met them far too often - I had someone in an ancient Proton sit on my bumper waiting to overtake. We were part of a long queue travelling down an NSL at 50+mph. He finally decided to pull out, in front of oncoming traffic, and he had no hope of getting past. I had to slam on my brakes, as did the cars coming the other way so he could squeeze in front. I promptly flashed my lights at him and he slammed on his brakes and did an emergancy stop. To this day I don't know how I stopped in time - he was inches from my bumped when he cut in. I was absolutely fuming too

Had one try to overtake going up a hill in the Sprint, he drew about level and then the gradient increased, started dropping back.....Spanner. I just dropped out of OD and accelerated away so he had somewhere to go, as he was determined to pass!

Just dangerous.

I had a woman do this to me in a people carryer, shes trying to overtake, I was doing 75, uphill, overtaking a car transporter, but she wanted to get past ME aswell at the same time, so she pulls into the other sides lane, trys to overtake (can't as shes only doing like 75.1) and suddenly I notice theres an oncoming car, have to brake hard as by now shes nearly level with me (long hill) and can't pull in unless I go behind
then she gives me the bird though the window!!!
some people realy need their heads examining

We see it all too often, not far off a weekly occurrence in my job.

Driving standards and road manners today on the roads are terrible, especially amongst youngsters. I'm not tarring them all with the same brush, but some just defy belief with the stunts they pull on the highways.

The last one I was at was this fella:-

Decided he would overtake a bus on a sharp bend over a double white line. Hit a car coming the other way and spun off the road. The young driver who had passed his test 4 weeks beforehand was slightly injured, the occupants of the car he "lamped" weren't so lucky, requiring an extrication by ourselves using cutting gear and a lengthy stay in hospital.

This fella decided he couldn't be bothered using the doorbell:-

He was doing around 60mph in a 30 zone when he lost control of his car, hammered the brakes on and slid into the house.
