OK I just won the national lottery. What monitor can I buy for ATI freesync which is totally the most perfect monitor with no flaws or faults?

That £200 AOC 31.5" initially looked good, but now with ghosting- not so much.

Is there such a thing as a "perfect" monitor, if you ignore the price?

No. Monitor tech is extremely disappointing currently. I've had my XR34 for over 2 years now and it's still among the best monitors, the only upgrades are very marginal (ie 100hz instead of 75hz), I don't think any freesync 1440UW offers over 100? I might be wrong. There's some G-sync models with higher refresh, the Acer X35 is looking promising too.

Money no option and size not an issue?

Get an OLED 55/65" TV. Nothing comes close and certainly not some **** basic LCD monitor..... Free/g sync are nice but they ain't got nothing on oled (especially when amds new sync and nvidia fast sync is so good now)

Screen burn
Not 75hz+
No freesync

People have been using their 2017 OLEDs with no "permanent" burn in at all and these are people that say they have racked up hours in BF 1 amongst other games with heavy HUDs. So far I've had 4+ hour sessions on mine, not a sign of anything at all and if anything does appear, it will go with a compensation cycle that runs after every 4 hours of usage whilst in standby and for any severe burn in, there is a more thorough compensation cycle run. Of course if you are using it for desktop usage 24/7 then yup there might be some "permanent" burn in eventually but most people aren't that stupid....

2017 OLEDs are 120HZ @ 1080P

Yup no sync is a bummer, maybe next year TVs will have it but not an issue for me especially with amds new sync, it is extremely impressive and there have been a few people who have been happy to give up sync just to have all of oleds superior benefits.

If it was me, I'd probably take a punt on this bad boy (whenever it becomes available!)

Ah yes, where would we be if ASUS didn't have the exact same monitor coming out as Acer (but undoubtedly 20% more expensive). :p

(honestly though, I'd not seen the ASUS version yet so thanks... I really should have predicted it though)

With only a million pound to spend you may as well not bother with a monitor, as you need to double your budget and get a stereo set up :D

How on earth can that website show me a picture of HDR vs non-HDR when my actual monitor isn't HDR? So presumably neither image are shown in HDR, in which case the non-HDR image is basically just photoshopped to look half as bright as it could? Or is it aimed only to people who already only have HDR screens?

Its fake the HDR side is really normal and the norm side is way below normal. Its the same when you go into a shop and see TV's with split video. More often then not its fake. HDR on the PC at the moment is messed up and a waste of time it even often makes games look worse.

Monitors have been a massive disappointment in recent years. Mine is around 7 years old and I still haven't found a screen worth upgrading to.

That's exactly what I thought :(
Just noticed something even worse. They have a screenshot of 60hz v 200hz! A screenshot like that should be identical. At 200hz screenshots do not look any different than 60hz as both are only taking a screenshot of 1 single hz.

I would not use an OLED as a monitor though that would not be a good idea, yes you could use one as a TV and some gaming, but not as a PC monitor for web browsing etc. What WILL be good, is when they release 120hz 4k DP 2.1 adaptive sync OLED TV's, I think it is possible this would happen in 2019, but I read from vincent teoh (HDTVtest) that 2018 OLED's will not have DP 2.1.

Yup I agree, I definitely wouldn't use one for desktop browsing, work etc. That is why I kept my 29um65 for that stuff, gaming and films/tv shows all get put onto the oled.

I am sitting the appropriate distance from the TV so 1080P looks stunning, far better/sharper looking than my much higher PPI monitor, 4k is nice but out of everything i.e. oled, true hdr, 120HZ, it isn't that good and is overrated massively imo (unless you sit pretty close i.e. can pixel peep)

I presume you mean HDMI? HDMI 2.1 is what will be needed and the latest DP is 1.4 and probably will never get implemented into most TVs and yup as Vincent said, most likely nothing in 2018, until then 120HZ @ 1080P with enhanced sync is pretty damn awesome.

Yes HDMI not DP. What do you mean enhanced sync? is that in drivers or is it something the LG OLED does?
