Just got my new system running and by keeping the memory at 1066 I can get boost the CPU to 3.806Ghz+ stable. However, I seem to get better performance doing a 1:1 and upping the lot to 3.0Ghz (1200Mhz ram). Whats the best option for clocking? Keeping the FSB and ram speed linked or not??

Well if you've already seen it run faster with 1200 memory, then you're probably better keeping to that rather than having a faster CPU and slower memory.

Can you not get the CPU to 3.8 and set the divider to give you 1200 for the memory?

Also, I guess it depends on what you're doing. Something more CPU intensive will run at 3.8/1066 better... but something with a better share of RAM access and CPU processing would run at 3/1200 (eg games).

I'd say stick @ 1:1 if you can't get both 1200 mem and a 3.8 clock.

well when i say performance is better, i get a faster fps in 3dmark and top banana in everest when set as 1:1.
never thought about o/c cpu AND 1200 ram.
do i need to adjust the timings as they do change a little from 5-5-5-5-15 to 5-6-7-7-17 or something like that (can't remember the exact timing)

Well, leave it on auto timings for now unless the auto timings give you stability problems. Then you could try and get both the CPU and RAM up to their top speeds. Once you're as overclocked as you want to be, you can put the RAM timings to manual and see if you can tighten them up to 5-6-6-17 or 5-7-6-18, but leave that bit for last as I'd say that's the least important bit :)
