1:1 Pixel Mapping via video driver?

I have my eye on the OCUK 24' Value monitor everyone's raving about, but I hear it doesn't do hardware 1:1 pixel mapping. This would be essential to me on a monitor that size. My eyes are very intolerent of downscaling on LCDs :(

I've googled this, but I'm not getting any good results from my search -

Can 1:1 pixel mapping be done via the Nvidia drivers in Vista with an 8800GTX? Any issues?
I'm assuming you need to be using a DVI cable to use this, as I don't see any options in my current setup? I'm using a 19' Sammy 913n TFT via analogue VGA.

I'm looking for definate answers and photos if possible :)

Greatfully,
B

under vista, the option is there in the latest drivers to allow 1:1 mapping over dvi with an 8800gtx. doesnt do anything for me though, it just resets to Use my 'display's built in scaling'.

why is 1:1 mapping essential anyway?

Why exactly are you trying to 1:1 on this monitor in windows? If you set a res of 1280x1024 with 1:1 you'll get a 1280x1024 sized box in the middle of the monitor, but text and anything in windows will still look the same as 1920x1200 res, just the higher res fills out the rest of the screen for more desktop space.....

Totally have no idea why you want 1:1, its only use is if you plug in a xbox 360 to maintain aspect ratio at 1920x1080 instead of being stretched slightly

No, if you set a lower than native res and it fills the screen the interpolation doesn't look so hot. I want to be able to play some games at lower than native res @ 1:1 for the best image quality.

you have a gtx. you are officially nuts my friend..... besides, 1680x1050 looks pretty good:) not quite as good as it is native on a 22", but tbh everything else makes up for that. lol

Thats a matter of opinion my friend! Personnaly I think it looks $%^£, and the GTX is not fast enough for 1900x1200 on some titles. Anyhows, I didn't want to start an arguement about that - does anyone have an answer to the original question?

How is he nuts if he owns a GTX?

I don't think you can software enable 1:1 pixel mapping if that's what you mean? On my 40" LCD the hardware itself supports it and is enabled in the TV menu.

You have a GTX, you shouldn't really need to knock the rez down from the native, 1900x1200 on a GTX should be fine in all today's games, exception being crysis, even if you do get the OCUK monitor, you can hook up the DVI connection and use the Nvidia flat panel scaling option to get 1.1 mapping at all rez. I use this option for crysis, set the game to 1280x1024 to get an extra 20fps boost over my native 1680x1050 rez, yeah i get borders either side of the screen but the picture remains pin sharp and not all blurry and crap as it is without 1.1.

Lets not get into this pls, i don't want to get off topic.

Right! Thanks a mill, that's what I'm looking for.

Does this work in Vista?
Is it DVI only?
How do you set it up in the control panel?

Its under " change flat panel scaling " and i set it to " do not scale " and this gives me 1.1 at all rez, like i said, i use it in crysis, looks great.

Actually it been working in vista for about 6 months, it's XP thats the issue for most users as nvidia broke it very early on for some reason and never fixed it.

It's strange because it worked perfectly with the original release drivers back in november of last year but every driver since it's been broken for me and allot of other users in XP.

Relax james miller, no need to make a point! I've tested 1900x1200 on an old CRT. I know how games will run.

It works for RavenXXX2 with his GT. Question is, will a GTX do it? Cmon lads, lets get to the bottom of this!

Calling all DGM owners to try this out!
