Hi,

Small problem with my girlfriend's car: Starting from cold - It takes quite a while to start, but does eventually fire.

Any ideas? Its a 1.25 Fiesta on an R plate. I was thinking maybe plugs and leads?

im assuming it has an imoboliser in the key (chip) try giving that 1 or 2 small taps to make sure its finding it, highly unlucky its that but hey its easy to try

Edit: WOOT 1000th Post :D

the engine turns over, its just not firing :)

So plugs first?

Dizzy cap?

In a fuel injected engine?

Brain says no, but brain is not firing on all cylinders at present.... :(

Brain says yes :p

Most fuel injected engines have distributor caps. If not, they're wasted spark.

I can't see any other way?

Ben, does it start on the first attempt, or do you have to stop cranking and try again? Tried WD40?

why not?not al modern fuel injected engines use coil packs and are distributerless, honda use distributer on the b16a afaik, they certainly do on the 2l 130bhp engine in my dads rover 620.

Was that directed to me?

If so, I know not all cars use dizzy caps. Hence why I said 'wasted spark'

:)

All the dizzy cap/wasted spark unit does is control the sparking. Nothing to do with the way fuel is delivered, so why would it not be found on a fuel injected engine?
