I FINALLY got the parcel that some other monkey signed for

it was a motherboard so i could fix up a pc

chucked it all together with the t2500 cpu and a 1gb stick and a 512mb stick of crucial ram

(ram was what was in the pc when i got it)

bios only recognizes 2 512mb sticks of ram .. weird or what?

anyone know how to fix this issue?

im just installing windows at the moment and will come back with the results of testing just the 1gb stick on its own to see what that comes up with

(edit ... i remember being told it only had a gig of ram in it but it actually had 1gb and 512mb sticks of ram so this issue has been there from the start if that helps)

What motherboard?
have you checked you don't need matched pairs installed?
tried running Memtest?
Has the board got a max memory limit?

Board is a Asus YNRC BR
ive not checked about matched pairs
not run memtest as i am installing windows (just about finnished)
max memory is 2gb

ill get back to you in a little while

See if there is a BIOS update available. Bit weird because the board only has two memory slots and supports up to 2GB RAM... so by definition it must be able to handle 1GB sticks.

If you have another DDR2 mobo available maybe worth testing in that.... not beyond the realms of possibility that it is faulty.

the old motherboard that i changed it said it only had 1gb of ram with both sticks installed also.

the 1gb stick is what came with the computer out of the factory im led to believe

i do not have any access to a 3rd ddr2 mobo unfortunately

ill have a peek on hp for a bios update as it is a oem board this one that ive just received in the post is a manufacture refurbished unit

(edit its at the latest bios, maybe the stick is faulty?)
