A quid a litre for diesel?????!!!!!!

Im gonna have to buy a sinclair c5 at this rate!

You may joke but I am seriously considering trading in my gert big 2 litre Avensis and buying one of those nifty little Honda Civics, mainly to cut petrol costs.

Over 50% of what you pay is tax!

It's a joke. I'd use public transport if it wasn't expensive or slow. Also, as I live in a small village you can't really get anywhere without a car. (Theirs a bus every hour, but it goes completely out of the way to get to the nearest City- adding an extra hour)

I'd use public transport if it wasn't for the general public. They're a horrible lot at the best of times. I live in a city and so public transport provision is better than rural areas but it does suffer reliability issues, it is dirty and the people who use it are, quite frankly, scum and I have no desire to sit next to them.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t just affect private users but also commercial goods vehicles. This will force higher transportation costs and thus inflation. Just watch consumer prices rise over the next few months, especially in the super markets.

With high fuel prices and housing costs, it all adds up to a potential collapse and possible recession.

you'll be paying more bread for your bread!

Thats the problem everyone like you hides away in your car, if more people used it then the chances of sitting next to a scummer would lower.

It's time take public transport back...might as well get used to it before the fuel rations start

The last time I used a bus a 20 stone ginger retard who smelt of wee sat next to me and wanted to be my new best friend.

Yes, the government do have to start treating public transport seriously. Not only due to the wake of increase fuel pricing, but also the affects of reducing emissions.

I find it astonishing to see hundreds of cars all going the same way, with only one person in them. What a waste.

My dad's got a civic diesel and he managed to get 70mpg out of it the other day, this is doing 60 on a dual carriageway, 70 on a motorway, and we were stuck in traffic for 40 minutes as well in a town :o

I used the bus yesterday and it was 30 minutes late meaning I hit the kids getting out of school. I was surrounded by ******* 14 year old children on the bus, with one girl deciding it would be a fun game to poke me in the back and blow on the back of my head periodically. What the hell are you meant to do in that situation? I just sat there and took it until she got bored, I doubt turning around and calling her an ugly **** would have helped the situation.

My journey to work is walkable in the summer, but in the winter or when its raining I simply have to get the bus otherwise I turn up in work either frozen solid or soaking wet, which considering I work in a food factory is not really acceptable. Its cold in the factory so I would not be able to get warm, plus if I am wet its going to make it worse and it's also no good for hygiene now is it.

So because of that, I get the bus to work and back every day.

Anyway, I hate the bus so much and its so expensive - about £500 a year - that I am considering getting a car despite the rising fuel costs. I would rather pay more to travel in my own vehicle than have to use the abomination that is public transport and put up with the scum that do indeed use it.

Fine I'll not sit next to you in future...

You can sit next to me :D

I don't really see the problem with public transport in cities. As for sitting next to a 'scummer', well you can either move or get on another bus/train. If you want your own personal space, pay for it. Simple as.

I cycle a 40 mile round trip if I dont feel like using public transport. Keeps me halfway fit and is a nice way to start the day.

I'd use Public transport if it was atall possible.

With a bus that does not run before 7am and a bus at 15 mins past the hour each hour untill 9pm the service is useless. Its a 10 min walk to the bus stop, then a 35 min trip into town, a further 5 min to the train station. 45 mins to get into Notts, then 15 mins to the bus station, and then a 45 min trip out to somewhere near where i work, followed by a 10 min walk through the Industrial estate.

total travel time by Public Transport 2 hours 45 min (on a good day) costing around £8.60 one way, i could probably get it to around £14 return with saver and season tickets, but still way more than cars cost.great if i had a job that started at 10.30 in the morning.

I can drive it in around 45 mins as its only 30 mile. Petrol cost is about £40 a week.

Saving me around £40 a week. (£30 if using season tickets)

If you live outside London or any of the mayjor cities (becouse you can't afford to buy a house in them), public transport is a Laugh.

Hmm, that's pretty rubbish.

It's €1.10 a litre of Diesel over in France (~75p), probably cheaper as you get closer to big cities. What on earth justifies the 33% extra tax between here and France

I agree huddy.

To get to my school it used to take me:
15 Minues bus journey into Liverpool city centre
20 minute train from Liverpool to Runcorn
Wait for a bus for 25 minutes
then 10 minute bus journey to school

So an 1 hour 10 minutes versus 30-40 minutes in the car, depending on traffic

$1.30 (54p) a litre or thereabouts in Adelaide at the moment. The people are in uproar and it's made front page news how expensive it is.

and it's going to go up, if the possibility of the US launching strikes against Irans nuclear plants becomes even more likely.

Interesting to note, if it does go over £1 and sit at around £5 a gallon, good old Mr Brown will get an £8billion windfall for the North Sea oil revenues alone.

Makes you wonder why they go to war, really, doesn't it?
