1 monitor 2 gpus

if you have 2 of the same cards then installing the driver them works for both cards yes? and then i connect my monitor to one of the gpus, i then want both to start folding, will this work or do i need a 'dummy' plug for the second card in order for them both to fold? thanks.

They will both work outputting via the monitor assuming everything else is done correctly.

you mean that even tho i have only 1 monitor connected to 1 card the other will work aswell?

As long as they are joined by a crossfire/SLI bridge and the application supports multi-GPU.

It would be helpful to get some specifics. I'm only answering your question but there are a whole load more factors in play.

What is the rest of your machine like including PSU? What graphics cards are we talking about?

ok i will be buying a corsair 750 zs supply, i wont be using sli though. just 2 cards into 2 pci slots. The cards are a pair of GTX 470'S

thinking i should have just got a gtx 570 now... i suppose i can just bang them back onto the known buying/selling site

these cards are for folding

I think they have to be joined via an SLI bridge don't they? Not an expert on folding though do will let someone else answer.
