1 Shoot, 2 Cameras, Duplicate file names "problem"

If you highlight all the pics in windows and do a rightclick -> Rename and change the file name to wedding or something it will simply call them all wedding and then add (1), (2), (3) to each of the pics after the first.

If you are going to use lightroom to order them by time then this could be the best way for you.

ok, as someone suggested, it seems lightroom can import a "root directory" thus putting both Raw 1 & Raw 2 in the same collection without any trouble and doesn't rename the files.

I will just rename them with unique names (sequence) upon export.

Problem solved :)

Now, where is the prefix name changes in the Canon menu ??? i can't find it ? !

I'm guessing it'll be DPP/canon viewer utility.

But I know you can't change the suffix on 1 series, they all have unique 6 digit prefixes anyway - I.e
F30ske_7832, or S18jde 6389.

But it's non customisable so I'm not sure you can do it on a 5DII?

Really? That's a fairly startling omission, Nikon certainly allow you to customize the prefix for filenames (so CAMA, CAMB, CAMC for me) so I imagine you must be able to somewhere in the menu's...

Nope - TBH it's no real issue, since they are all unique, it's the same idea as cama, camb (I have no C), just mine read asdasd, qweqwe. Or whatever ;)

I think with the MKIV you can change these prefixes, but I've never found it necessary...
