Looking to get a new internal drive since i'm running out of space so thought might as well go for a 1 TB one since that'l last me for a while :)

Been hearing a lot on these forums about the samsung spinpoint and the WD drives but not much about the seagate baracudas? Far as I know, years and years ago they used to be the most reliable drives out there. Has this changed now or is it just that samsung and WD are as reliable?

The drive will mostly be used for data storage (backups) and playing video files. So reliability is the most important. And nothing louder than my current 74 gb raptor please. That gets loud enough when it spins up.

If you want maximum performance you can have for a hard drive... Samsung F3...

They use 2x 500gb platters which makes them great for performance.

If you want something for storage and speed is not important when you can get a caviar green.

Either way since noise doesnt bother me... I would go for the F3

+1.

The Samsung is getting good reviews on the web, not much difference in price between them & the WD green.
