Good evening to all @OCUK,

Let me introduce myself, I'm Chris, 25, from the UK (Wait this isn't Tinder!?) All jokes aside...

I'm looking to finally build my own Gaming PC, I have experience PC building, I'm familiar with most hardware and software.

The main game I play(ed) and would like to return to for the launch of Battle for Azeroth (August 2018) is World of Warcraft.

I would have course explore playing other games, but with that said, I would like to achieve a stable 60 FPS whilst experiencing Raiding//Busy areas, when the graphics is at it's most strained point.

I feel overall I would like to spend no more than around £1200 - This would include OS and all components, I don't quite know how the market currently looks, though I have seen a peak in GFX card prices, I heard this was due to Crypto mining? I do like the idea of Intel over AMD, but I'll leave this down to your advise.

Regardless, if anyone could draw me up a parts list, aimed at good quality gaming, with any bonuses you can think of, I.E lower cost than my budget, more for my money, maybe peripherals? (Although this is not essential)

I have been on the website, trying to build a custom gaming PC for a while, and either parts are out of stock, or I'm ending up £400+ out of my budget, can anyone help and shed some light on this.

I would be very grateful, I look forward to hearing from those who can help me with this project.

Kindest of regards,

Chris.

WOW is based on an old engine, so is, for all intents and purposes, single-threaded.
apparently the next expansion will be available in directx12? who knows?
best is to get an intel -k processor and overclock the beejesus out of it (5ghz+)
an i3 -k @ 5ghz would be fine for wow, but not really "futureproofing" per se, so rather go with the i5 -k instead
and a nice 29" ultrawide monitor to go with it.

specced in windows, just for cost comparisons, but i wouldn't buy windows from OCUK. not price competitive at all, when you can get legit copies from other etailers for £30 less

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,447.32 (includes shipping: £22.50)

Good morning all,

Thank you very much ExoMale & Tamzzy,

If I get my hands on a cheaper version of windows, when the PC is built, is it just as simple as installing windows myself, for the 1st time?

@tamzzy

you'll be surprised at new expansion !

Intel® Core™ i7-4770 or
AMD FX™-8310 or better

seems its more CPU intense then GPU- GTX 960 for recommend so could get away with 1050ti nicely!

GTX 1060 would last longer though

i7 8700 non K boosts to 4.3ghz on all 6 cores with 12 threads - WOW will move to DX11 in te future. DX 9 now starting to be dropped by the company

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,032.51 (includes shipping: £12.60)

others are better at screens then me and keyboards etc etc

not required but best practice for the future , 16gb of ram + wide screen 2560x1080p

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,269.00 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Some of these parts are not available to be chosen from the options they give? So for example, that build above from Orbitalwalsh, for £1269.00 I want OCUK to build it for me if possible, but some parts are not available :S?

if you want a list quoted from any fine OCUK forum user- simple drop customer service a thread on their section in the Pre sales part linking the thread/permalink

i think it's like £100-150 for them to build it for you including warranty etc etc etc

if not

pro's and con's to pre-builds - this one being stock cooler and kolink PSU which seems Kolink rep will try to address in the up coming weeks

and the screen on and same price and listed parts - but slightly cheaper then having list of parts built

Intel will still hold the advantage with this title - even though ryzen 1600 has more threads and blizzard is moving in the right direction for better hardware support for those that have the pooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooower!

Thanks for all you quick responses @orbitalwalsh,

Yes I have an active post from yesterday evening on there, issue is, I'm at work, in the office, so on the forum communication is fine, but don't want to be talking finances out loud etc.

Guess I will wait for them to respond, just want to know if, I have picked XYZ from the online store, will they still be able to build it, as those items are not on their premade configuration page.

Also, any reason why this is so cheap for how good the specs look?

should be fine to build custom pc's- its their bread and butter :) and joy it seems haha

freesync monitors are cheaper then G-Sync due to not needing additional hardware
