No! as i work for the top 6th company in the UK in our field out of thousands of others & we charge much less than most others.
I don't believe that all companies charge as much as people are willing to pay as then you would never see the word value for money mentioned by consumers because that means they are getting more than what they think they should be getting for what they paid which means that they would have paid more.
Perhaps that is why your not the top company in your field.

In all seriousness there's not really much more to add that hasn't already been said... but as you mention not all companies charge as much as consumers are prepared to pay and I never suggested that to be the case. You can look at Activision and Valve's business models as prime examples of this. Valve could charge but they choose to offer their 'value for money' through free content updates funded by the continued sale of their product. Activision go for the direct route of charging as much as people are willing to pay which has been exceptionally lucrative for them... then in 6 months time they slash the price and there's your perceived 'value for money' factor to get those who thought $15 was to much, but $7 is ok...
