Got a little E2180 today to try see if I can get a 100% OC of 4ghz. Thought I might as well have ago at lapping it and im quite pleased with the results.

Will be sticking it in next week for some temp testing and clocking, will be water cooled so should be able to push it hard to see how much difference the larger cache makes in a few benchies between my E8500 and this at the same speed. Just out of interest what kinda clocks you guys have with these and with what temps/volts.

Cheers Brad.

E2140 (SLA3J) @ 3200MHz (8x400) - 1.4vCore/BIOS - P5B-Deluxe/Ultra 120 - 43°C/75°C Orthos Load

Did my first 100% overclock 15 months ago! didn't realise it at the time but both my rear 80mm case fans had stopped working (hence the 75°C load temps!) :D

To my box of pc bits!! Suddenly i have a massive urdge to go for a 100% overclock!!! (though im moving tomrrow morning...)

So far thats looking pretty sweet too

Is there a lapping guide about? I guess i should lap both cpu and cooler and use as little as paste as possible to see the most benefit?

/mini hijack - would it be worth lapping a cpu block when you have lapped the cpu previously? /end highjack

Back on topic - i have an old AMD 440+ lying around, didnt know what i was doing before, keep meaning to fire it up and see if i can go higher :D

You'll not get 4ghz out of an E2180.

If you want a 100% overclock then the E2140 is the daddy. I got 116% out of the one I had, and that was only held up by the ~430mhz FSB wall that the E21*0 range are infamous for having.

Whats the multi on the E2180? 10?

If your willing to push one to destruction I think its possible...

don't think I'll spend best part of £80 tho just to prove a point.
