The wife was cleaning the worktop in her energetic way this morning and manage to swipe the jug kettle off worktop.
Lid came off but it was the top part - the inner part has hinge and spring on and it's below the rim and can't get it back so think rim has been dented.

Good job I didn't bin old one - it looks like new but it became the wrong colour. You know what wimin are like.

I felt robbed paying £25 for the new one I've just bought so if nothing else this thread has made me feel better

Status symbol - wife wanted to stay in front of the Joneses. It rhymed with Beg.

To be honest it was the worst designed kettle you could ever have. Heavy for half kettle - finger get trapped in lid knob - if you filled it too full and pored a cup of water it shot out too quick and missed other side of cup - handle was L shaped and the bit you grabbed was way to short which made it awkward to lift. But it looked nice.
Back to good old Breville :)

Bet it was your fault though?! You'd moved it, she was stressed, *insert some other lame excuse rather than just admitting to being a feckwit*

Do you have the matching toaster? My mum's can spring the toast about 5 meters away

Naaaa - Still got cream Breville -- I think she breathed a sigh of relief when I told her I can't fix it - I don't think she liked it from start but wouldn't say because she bought it. - She didn't want the "I told you so" :)

Maybe the kettle was £15 , but the day spent choosing it + parking/meal brought total to £100.

Usually run kettles into the ground, but because it is one of most important kitchen gadgets - now pre purchase a replacement, or, we got two last time on a good deal,
death from leaking or non-replaceable element is usually autopsy result.

Toasters last forever though - Tefal thick and thin from 90s still used daily.

yeap must admit we normally buy them a couple at the time when on offer, doesnt seem to matter what make always leak around the bottom after a few years (jug kettle that is :) think they normally around 25 quid. used to have a old Russell hobs at old house lasted years till got dropped .

For those of you buying 2x £25 Kettles every few years...just git er done

Never had a single issue and it is serviceable. Just under 4 years old and used at least 4/5 times daily (2x WFH).
