This a good combination?

Im buying a new router and pci card. Is this a good combination?

Spec me router, pci card.

Im buying a new router and pci card. I have made a thread in networking but no reply so hopefully will get a better response here. Is this a good combination?

Or would i be better off with some 85mbs/200mbs homeplugs?

I've got that router, but using it with the USB adapter instead of the PCI one. It's great for gaming, no lag at all in games now.
 
Cool thanks. Is it worth getting a N pci/usb adapter ?

Also is that card compatible with that router?
 
It looks OK, I don't have any experience of the N products as to weather it is actually better or just hype. (At least it's not a belkin ;P)

However, No wireless connection can give you the low latency of a wired connection IMO, especially if there are other clients using the AP.

I have a DG834N router and it works pretty well with my MacBook Pro running in 802.11n mode.

Would however just suggest that for the cost of those you could go and buy a pair of 200mbit rated powerline adapters that would be better for gaming on IMO, less chance of packet loss and infinitely more reliable.

Argh, been advised in a competitor to not get homeplugs. Also the pc with model is not on the same power ring as my pc and the wiring in our house - im guessing is quite bad.

not worth getting Wireless N equipment while its still in Draft. its unreliable, expensive and VERY VERY choosy about other brands of hardware.

for example, a Belkin Wireless N router probably won't get more than 50Mb/s with a netgear Wireless N Adapter.

Yeh but he's choosing compatible hardware (like a sensible person) and it will work fine, as mine is doing.

There seems to be 2 routers which seem the same spec but vary in price..

Does anybody know what the difference between the

WNR834B
is compared with the
WNR834M
?

They look almost identical not sure why they are differently priced.

Have a £100 budget to get a top notch router which will be good for gaming.
