Afternoon,

I should have an extra £100 to blow shortly so I ask, what would you spend it on considering the following spec? It is used for gaming.

Asus P5Q
Q6600 2.4GHZ @ 3.3GHZ
2x 2GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400
Creative XFI Audio
ASUS 260GTX
120GB SATA Drive
450W PSU

Thanks

Actually looking at his budget and the difference between the 260 and 6850/460 (max he could buy) it's not that much difference.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT064M4SSD2) £79.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £31.99
Total : £120.68 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Go for it.
That would be lovely, but his boards only takes DDR2?

Also, the 460 will be an improvement. Not least as they are very overclockable. An SSD might be the best idea though; depends how the 260 runs what you play?

I've just ordered BF3 to give you an idea.

Space isn't an issue really nor are loading times. I just want everything to run and look good.

There is a XFX 5850 1GB in MM that I'm looking at. Would this be a noticeable upgrade?

Go for it.

Why are you recommending DDR3 RAM for a motherboard that only supports DDR2?

The SSD's a good recommendation. I would probably go for a secondhand graphics card update though, if I was in your position.

Edit: beaten! Curse my slow typing on my phone! :-)

Looks like it :)

BTW, got a 460 recently replacing my 260 and it seems to run BF3 fine at high settings (1920x1200) but I do have a good CPU, which may help.

Good PSU, get the better card:)

Hopefully it comes with a molex-PCI-e adapter, or you have one lying around? or from your GTX260?
