£1000 Budget Advice

instead of 560 ti get Ati Radeon 7850, same price, bigger VRAM and greater performance.

Instead of Corsair ram, get Samsung green it is cheaper and will overclock to 2000mhz

Instead of 500gb get 1tb it is only 15 pounds more expensive and you get 2wise the space

You can save around 60 pounds on the motherboard, get gigabayte Z77

PSU, you can get this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-202-CM&tool=3, Same price more W but it is not modular.

I've always been a fan of Nvidia, what are the benefits to going Ati. Apart from the price difference, between the gigabyte and the Asus mboards?
Ty for helping :)

I like the look of this, didn't realise i would be able to fit in such a good graphics card in the budget, with the RAM, is there a reason to only get 1600MHz instead of 2000MHz? And say if i wanted to buy the Asus mboard, is there any reason not to, the difference between the two?

Ok, now i have a lot to think about,
my other posts don't seem to have come up but i was just going to ask, apart from the £50 difference between the gigabyte motherboard and the Asus one, are there any reasons to go for the Gigabyte one? Also 1600vs2000MHz RAM?

All of you seemed to pick OCZ PSU, Isnt it a bit weak for 7850 or 670 especially if GPU and CPU will be overclocked and surely SLI or Crossfire is out of question with that PSU, + OCZ is not really a top brand for PSU`s. Since the guy wanted Maximus I would imagine he intends to Overclock the system and that OCZ is doubtly up for the job.

Ok thanks for all the help guys, but if i upgrade the graphics card etc i have to compromise on the motherboard/RAM, is there any particular reason not to go with the build that i have posted? :D

Overclocks adds what, 100W max at the very most?

The OCZ can do 430W, the system stock will be around 250-300W.

GPU is quicker, more ram, less power, quieter. If you want a gaming build, you get the best GPU you can get (without gimping other components). the Maximus is also micro-atx.

The motherboard which all of us used, is fine and will suit your needs, 2000mhz RAM does not increase system performance greatly, Samsung green will overclock to 2000mhz with next to none trouble.

The only good point about board that you picked is that it comes with gadgets like LED`s, Costumised Bios, but in fact because it is mATX it will struggle to crossfire or SLI and will be hotter, if you have money to throw away get the full ATX version of Maximus, thats where most overclocking is done, but the price tag on that is premium and tbh theres no need for it unless OC is your hobby and you are just rich... I use 60 pound motherboard and get 5.0 ghz overclock out of it...

I would still advise you to get +700W PSU, 500W to me is too little, look at signatures I never saw someone with i5 and top end GPU with 500W PSu.

With that board and ram you are not compromising. The only compromise with the Samsung green is the look of the ram.
There is nothing wrong with the Asus board but it also doesnt offer any significant benefits for you.
The Gigabyte board is a good board and also offers a highly regarded UK based customer service.

Yes I will be needing an OS, sorry for not stating that earlier. So there is no reason to get the Asus Motherboard i linked over the Gigabyte one? I won't be running Sli in the future, i have no need to. Can anyone explain to me the difference between a modular/non modular PSU?

Just thought i would also add this will be used as a gaming PC for as high end as i can get for the budget :)

A modular PSU has some cables which you attach yourself if you need them, to reduce clutter in the case.

If you don't need SLI, I'd get the MSI motherboard in my spec below, no need to spend more. This will overclock to ~4.5Ghz too.

The 7850 is a great choice in this budget, and overclocks very well:
How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

The case you chose, it's quite old now, so I've included a newer/better case (in my opinion). There are loads to choose from, so pick one you like. Some good ones:

Here what I'd get for £1000:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards £179.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £173.99
1 x Samsung S24B300BS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy Black £139.99
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2) £88.99
1 x MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £77.38
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) £72.00
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) £68.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black £53.99
1 x OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £44.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £41.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/1156/1155/775/AM3/AM2+/AM2) £32.99
1 x Samsung SH-S222BB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99
Total : £1,007.96 (includes shipping : £14.75).

The 7850 is very low power, so 550W is plenty:
Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

Radeon HD 7850 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit and 650 Watt if you go with two cards in Crossfire mode.

Hope that helps, any more questions fire away!

Non Modular PSUs have all the cables attached (Which is usually too many) meaning it's harder to manage your cables and having too many making your airflow not as efficient.
A Modular PSU has all the cables but they are not 'wired in' and therefore you can choose to connect only the cables that you actually need.

Edit: Beejjacobs beat me to it
