£1000 Build

As the Z77-D3H is only best for a single card setup (it says Crossfire but is a 16X/4X board, so the second card gets less bandwidth) you can happily use a good 550w+ PSU for that setup.

Tweaked your basket a little bit. The Z9 U3 isn't a bad budget case at all but the USB3 ports don't plug into the mobos header, hence the adapter. Modular PSU and a nice blue theme going on inside the case.

A couple of weeks is ample time to read reviews and get a good idea of what you want. As I said I look forward to seeing what you settle on, any questions or god forbid issues come build day you know where to find us :)

Thanks, definitely going for the zalman as it's stylish but understated, good call on the cheaper CPU cooler too and the SSD choice, I'm pretty sure that your tweaks are exactly what I'm going to go for.

Due to the "deal" I'm doing with the buyer for my current PC I'm basically going to get the pc purchased tomorrow rather than having the time to think. But I'm 100% sold on the spec, it's going to do me pretty well for a lot of upcoming games and I'm sure the CPU will outlast the card.

Thanks once again.

I own the Z9 Plus which is the older version. I've done quite a few builds in the U3 too. If you're not bothered about the side window then the Corsair 200R is a good shout, it won't need the USB3 adapter either.

You do get lots of kit with the Zalman Z9 chassis but it is a quirky case. The PSU vents although filtered aren't great so it's sensible to mount the PSU fan up. It does look nice this way through the side window and you'll notice the fully modular PSU I spec'd has a blue fan to continue the colour scheme ;)

If you are dead set on the U3, the power button comes disconnected and this does catch a few people out (read the instructions lol). I'd suggest mounting the optical drive in the bottom bay to keep it clear of any USB cables you might plug in the front. The Macho cooler I used is good value. I used it partly as the non LED fan in the case is also black with white fan blades. The Macho BW is currently out of stock though so you might want to look for another alternative.

Thanks once again.

Happy to help, we'd love to see a build log if you have the time to show the rig off. All the best with the build and flogging off your old rig.
