Hey guys,

Looking to get a PC for just under £1000 (my max budget really, unless pushing it a little is going to get me something much better). It's going to be a gaming rig mostly but I'll do other stuff with it, so basically needs to play all the new stuff like Crysis.

I need keyboard, mouse, monitor, pretty much everything. What is the best stuff to get for this sort of budget?

Cheers,

This would be most excellent:

The GTX put it overbudget but I think it's worth it. If you need to get it under you could drop down to the upcoming 8800 GT.

Looking at this thread closely, as its something im looking to do soon.

Does the PC7+ fit all the latest parts?

What sort of clock would you get out of the Q6600 on Stock Cooler?

A GTX kinda fits. It just almost touches the HDD rack, so it reduces the HDD capacity by one. IIRC The Tuniq Tower fits but the Thermalright Ultra 120 does not, at least with most motherboards.

If you get a good one that doesn't need more volts you can get it to 3.0ish. Why bother though when the OEM version plus an aftermarket cooler is about the same price as retail and will be cooler and quieter?

Was just wondering ;).

And ahh i remember reading about the PC7+ with that problem.

What sort of clock you recon you could get out of the Q6600 easily and safely?

Sorry for hijack here btw :p.

The only thing id change about the spec posted, is id possibly try get the 8800GTX with lifetime warranty, although thats just my preference.

how about a 8800GT instead of a GTX? They're about £100 cheaper and if you clock it (with a decent cooler), you could probably get to aorund a GTX standard with it (although not all the time)
