What would be your pick?

I have a Dell Inspiron 7559 with a 6700HQ and GTX960M, it's OK but was wondering if there is anything in the 1k range that would be better for gaming. I'm using the Dell mainly for work these days and it often lives in my office for weeks at a time

never had a proper gaming laptop(had a decent performing laptop before, hyperthreaded i5 dual with 5470 hypermemory 2gb and the one i have now is the old model in my sig), so i dont know how good the 1050 actually is for the price, i know the Ti is better more so on desktop, but without google search im sticking with ocuk options, a 1060 would be more ideal, but youd need at least an extra £300 minimum.

this is what re really the only options to consider from this site for that budget, what games are you actually wanting to play?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £4,042.56
(includes shipping: £12.60)

I have an aversion to MSI from years back. We used to call them Maybe Something Incorrect at work :p

As for the 1050/ti, is it tangibly better than a 960m? I hear the 970m is about 40-50% quicker than the 960m, and the 10** cards are just desktop versions at lower clocks?

The 1050 is 42% better than the 960M - http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-960M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Mobile/m27242vsm211022
And the 1050Ti is 78% better - http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-960M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti-Mobile/m27242vsm223242

Both will be a noticeable improvement.

dell outlet definitely! full warranty with anything ordered there, a 1060 would be a great card for that budget. they often release 15% off codes as well.

guys are msi really bad i was going to buy a GE72VR Pro for £1300 with i7-7700hq

seemed like a good deal

yes. i wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Read the thread on here. get an alienware from the outlet.

I'll second that. Ive had two MSI Laptops I got rid of:

1st one was advertised as upgradeable in the dedicated graphics card (MXM) but turned out that MSI was wrong as confirmed in the link above by MiSJAH (Big respect to MiSJAH for his HUGE efforts in that thread).

2nd one with 1070 graphics had serious thermal issues and would CTD after seconds in games/benchmarks after updating all drivers/vBIOS.

Also masses of bloatware preinstalled on MSI laptops needs removing (see Youtuber "Gamer Nexus" video on MSI bloatware).

OK so the apple never falls far from the tree, I've decided to get another Dell Inspiron 7000 series, this time with a 1050 GPU. Now just the choice of i5 7300 and 1050 4GB or i7 7700HQ and 1050Ti. Not sure if the premium is worth it for me, but I don't want a step backwards from the 6700HQ, which is pretty epic for a laptop CPU. Also, red or black... I hate choices :D
