£1000 to spend on GPU - which one?

+1 for 3440 by 1440p. The extra wide image is a game changer, though if i was spending a grand i would go for the curved 34" Gsync monitor (bit overkill imo)

I just retired my 7990 for a 390 but i'm waiting out for the new Nvidia cards first half of 2016. 980ti seems like a bit of a waste right now imo

^This

980Ti is on its last leg. Buying a 980Ti now still well over £500 is a utter waste of money so near the end. A few months from now they'll be £100 cheaper.

I can hear pascal singing now.

yh the 8gb vram would be much better suited to 4k if your opting for 4k i would say look for a cheap (lol) titan x as the 12gb vram will allow you to play 4k games for a good few years (maybe not at max settings by next year but you will be able to sli at some point).
But yh a 390x in crossfire would be a great choice.

Yep, that's what I'm going to do!

LG 27mu67 and I have one 390x so far. Going to get another one when they're sub 300 again or if I get a bonus this year.

I don't know why so may people pay the same or more money for 1440 when you can have 4k.

If I had £1000 right now.....I'd probably wait to see whats around the corner GFX card wise. Nvidia and AMD are both releasing new cards in the next 6 months (Well we kinda hope so anyway), so I would sit on the money for a bit.

Unless you are under a contract to pressure buy, of course. We have all been there.....

"If you dont spend that money before Xmas, then I am gonna spend it on shoes, chocolate and sexy underwear" etc...etc...

Then that's totally understandable......

Nvidia 980Ti and a nice G-Sync monitor (If you add a few scheckles to the grand) or an AMD Fury/Fury X with a nice Freesync monitor....which might just leave you a bit of change to get her the underwear....Winners all round. :p

Just do some research and ask others views on here as a starter (OOps you already done the latter, nice one).
:)

Thanks guys.

You've given me plenty to think about and some good ideas too.

I've decided to buy the 27" G-sync for now and then see what the next 6 months brings.

I'll then decide whether to shell out for the next gen GPU's or go for the 980Ti's which should as you have suggested be cheaper by then.
