100hz + refresh rates

It's not necessarily the higher Hz that will make you better, but it's the fact you will have optimal settings in order to get better, in my experience.

For example in CSGO, trying to play a game with 30fps, more input lag, slower reactions to enemies appearing etc will only allow you to get to a certain level. Once you move to 100+fps and 144hz, your ceiling to improve becomes higher since the game is smoother and you can react as fast as your personal ability allows.

It won't make you much, if at all, better instantly, but you may be able to get better over time.

Is Gsync/Freesysnc required with the matching card? Can't you just sync ur gfx to the monitor anyway through the control panels?

Also, why oh why are Gsync monitors basically double the cost of Freesync?

I have a mate with an acer predator x34 ultrawide which runs at 100hz max. He compared playing BF1 on that to on a cheapo QNIX 144hz screen with bad colours and he says the QNIX is doing much better for his gaming performance - terms of aiming easier and tracking targets. Makes sense especially when paired with a gaming mouse at low dpi.

I would contribute his results more to the aspect ratio than the 100hz vs 144hz difference. I have tested this myself some time ago and for me personally I found that playing 21:9@75hz vs 16:9@75hz i performed better on the 16:9 aspect ratio and I believe in my case that I was simply being overloaded with information using the 21:9. I also have found that i do better on smaller monitors(24 inch)compared to 27inch(16:9) and 34 inches(21:9). Now of course it may be completely different for him but I believe that playing on 16:9 makes it easier to focus as there is less to keep track of and anything outside of your view is kept in check via audio. I might just be getting old as well :p

A valid theory - had not thought of that! 24" does seem to be the sweet spot for FPS gaming. Of course for general productivity, slightly higher would be better of course
