100mb Virgin BB Question

10 to 11 MB/s is 80 to 88Mb/s so you are not maxing out your connection, but don't forget that if you are downloading over WiFi then that can be a bottleneck and even the place you are downloading from may not be able to send data to you at the max your connection can handle.
I don't have the 100Mb broadband, but on my 60Mb from Virgin Media when downloading from a decent location I can easily max the full 60Mb (I actually get over 60Mb, I can quite easily sustain 63Mbs at times, sometimes even goes up higher than that at times). So you may want to try downloading from a known fast source, like on of virgin media linux mirrors, as that should max what your connection is capable of.

Still waiting on my upgrade (still on 50Mb), but my line will happily download at anywhere up to 6.5MB/s. I'm hoping for 11.5-12.5MB/s after the upgrade.
More looking forward to the increase in upstream speed though.
Does anyone know when the extra 100-120Mb rollout is due? I keep getting told that I'm on that list, but can't find many details about it.

So 10-11Mb/s is poor then in a 100Mbit BB connection.
Should at least be getting 12/13mb/s download.
I did test it at 10.30 last night so I don't know if it's slower at that time?
Also, is there a fair usage policy download caps on the 100mb service?

Call them and ask to upgrade. Took me literally 40 seconds.
The person said ok, turn your router off. When you put phone down. Turn it back on.
It was done immediately. No additional cost as our 50mb package was the same price as 100mb.

I think my problem is that im still on WinXP using a machine which is old.
I often, in Newsleecher, get a message saying "...waiting for download queue. items are being downloaded faster than they can be written to HDD"
Im looking to building a new Win8 PC in the very near future and will use SSD drives are dedicated download dumping areas. Hopefully that will speed things up.

You shouldn't need an SSD for downloading, you could get an SSD for system/apps/games and use a decent HDD like a WD caviar black for mass storage of stuff you download then that HDD should have no issue at the speed of your internet connection.
10MB/s = 80Mb/s, 11MB/s = 88Mb/s and 12.5MB/s = 100Mb/s (dead on). You're getting the correct amount. It also depends on the speed of the server that you're downloading from. Other than that there's also traffic management that could make the speed slightly slower. Wi-Fi is also another speed restriction. If you're using wired with a 100Mb/s - Gb/s connection it will cause you no restrictions.
