I was wondering if anyone might beable to help me with something.
I have a 1999 / T 106 Gti in diablo red which i've owned for 7.5 years, this weekend my Ignition barrel stopped working and i got a second had 1 from a scrapyard.
Now from what i've seen the barrel should be swappable without affecting the transponder (will always keep original key with new), the transmitter around my barrel is not used and the wiring for it is connected to a second coller which is behind my dash rigged up to my Clifford alarm.
The problem i'm having is that when i turn the ignition on i only get the battery light / stereo etc and when i go to start all i get is the sound of the relay behind the dash clicking.
I'm trying to figure out why this isn't working, it's like the transponder isnt getting the key code even though the key is in the same range as it always has been. Is there something in the original barrel itself which connects it to the transponder?
