Hi so I decided to upgrade to a 1070 from a 7970 and haven't really seen any improvements of frames in the games I play which are DayZ, Arma 3 and Rust. Yes I know these games are heavily CPU dependent (I have a i53570k at stock which I haven't over clocked yet but I will) but to see real no improvements has left me very disappointed. I'm still getting the same stutters in arma 3 that I got with my 7970. And Rust on full setting dips below 30fps.

What do you suggest because I'll have to send it back if I can't get improvements as 400 quid is a hell of a lot of money to see no improvements.

Thanks.

Run DDU to clear out the drivers.

Re-install drivers.

Set to high performance in Nvidia settings.

Load up something like GPU-Z, what is your GPU load? And check the CPU load on each core, should give you an idea what's bottlenecking you.

I have the same CPU (also at stock, or 3.8 which might be a little above stock) and the same GPU, and have seen massive improvements although I don't have the three games you mentioned. Have you ran 3DMark since getting the 1070? It might be worth doing that and compare it to my score below - as we have basically the same setup the scores should be close if everything is working correctly.

My GPU load is only in the mid 30's while playing Arma 3 online. Just tested it. I tabbed out to take the screen shot by the way.

The score looks about right seeing as you have everything on stock.

I definitely would try to overclock the CPU and see if that helps, the games could be very CPU dependant and it's holding the GPU back, possibly even your older 7970.

Post your Valley and 3D Mark benchmarks so we can see if they're right.

My 970 maxed Arma 3 (other than view distance which I had at around 3000, check this) at 60fps in campaign.

Are you testing with online servers as you are at the mercy of how well optimised the missions are.

The graphics score looks about right definitely that cpu score is on the low side id say definitely overclock it as those are cpu dependant games
