So any makes to aim for?
Got a m8 who has been waiting for a few years for my castoffs:D
Looks like he will have to dig deep with prices like that
Might depend on what you can nab to be honest, demand will be off the scale
Yes, good upgrade from 1070... should be 2070 super performace,?
I stuck with MSI for 1070 and 3080. Both great.

UPDATE
Got a `chance` of a
PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB XLR8 Gaming REVEL EPIC-X RGB
for £475 inc
Is it worth a shot?
Quick concise yes or no please :)

3060 performs like a 2060 Super.

In October 2019, the MSI 2060 Super Ventus was £385.98. 15 months later, that same performance is £475. So factually and statistically it`s not worth it.

Therefore, it comes down to whether it`s worth it TO YOU. Whether or not this is your only form of entertainment.

Upgraded my 1070 gaming x to a nitro 6700xt happy with the upgrade i think 1440p was starting slow the 1070 a fair bit (ie drops below 60fps on modded FO4 etc)

I have set myself a minimum of a 3060ti but preferably a 3070 (tied to Nvidia as my screen is Gsync at 1440p). A 3060 just isn't a big enough upgrade from a 1070 in my opinion. Just have to hope I can pick something up on a forum deal now.

This, hopefully Gibbo has something in the pipeline for this.

I personally wouldn't bother upgrading to anything less than a 3070 from a 1070, as less is more of a side-grade.

Of course it's never clear what's a good idea in the long term, I personally am in the same boat. I've decided I won't settle for less than a 3080 unless an excellent (and unrealistically good deal comes along). Admittedly cards in the 3060/6700 kind of range are inching closer to availability, had one of the 6700xt's from today's drop in my basket, just didnt see the value for money coming from a 1070.

Forgot to update this .Whoops:o
I managed to get a 6700XT fighter in one of Gibbos Deals a few weeks ago
Impressions after 2 weeks is that Although i get about 2000 points higher in benchmarks my feeling is that it is not a `huge` amount better than my 1070 in Destiny2 Settings still the same .fps is raised to 100,2560x1600 res ,gpu now maxs at around 80% ish instead of 100% with the old card
Overall i would say that it was an `ok`upgrade for me
I was not prepared to pay a lot more £450 ish is all i was comfortable paying. Will be looking for a better card when this price gouging settles down (if ever :( )

im in the same boat and to be honest i was looking at 3080 performance ideally to be a noticeable jump up in performance as well as having a few years of life in the card, of course i was waiting for prices to drop from release lol £500-550 was my upper limit but yeah guess il be waiting a while longer, and i game at 1440p.

Doubt we will see a price drop this year

a few weeks back i replied to a couple of posts saying i expected maybe rrp if we get black friday deals this year, now i cant even see that happening unless theres a huge crash on all crypto, so now its next year or wait for 2023 and the next round of new cards. who knows.

A 3060ti at 1440p is on average double the performance (sometime more, sometimes a little less) of a 1070 so is a worthy upgrade from one. Guru3D's reviews compare against a big list of gpu's so this 3060ti review gives a good performance comparison. I would prefer a 3070 but even on a forum deal it's probably going to be in the upper £500's, more likely £600+ and I will not pay that much for a graphics card. One thing I have noticed from this gen of cards (both AMD and Nvidia) is that the factory overclocked cards seem to be pretty pointless and have very little to no gain at all over a stock card. Seeing as they carry a big price premium it's very hard to justify the extra cost for one unless the cooler is massively better than a base card.

Thinking of trying to grab a 3060 when they come out
Is it a worthwhile upgrade to my 1070?
3700x
16 gb 3600 mhz ram
256 nvme os and other hdds/ssd etc
Highest spec game i am currently playing is Destiny 2@2560x1600
850 watt corsair psu(few years old now)

Depends entirely how much it costs you. It may be better to wait if you can, but it will be a long wait.
