Can't find much online and I am about to pull the trigger on a new laptop for gaming but would consider waiting if the mobile variant of the new Nvidia range are due anytime soon. Has anyone seen a release date to OEM partners anywhere?

It really didn't take long for the 900 series (1 month). But for 500>600 series the top end 680m didn't appear for quite some time. A rebranded 580m call the 675m was used for quite a few months.

my (+135mhz) 980m can just about maintain 30 fps @1080p in witcher 3 maxed out.

Just seems odd that there is no news on it anywhere - given how efficient the new series is, I would have thought they would be rushing to mobile market to capitalize.

It's really more about the fact that the NVIDIA market share in the mobile market is pretty low as Intel dominates everything, and ultrabooks and hybrids are more popular than ever who would never even consider a dGPU.

The segment is pretty small. Maybe NVIDIA would want to do something for the upcoming Macbook Pros though.

if they managed to do full fat 980 gtx in in laptops i would suspect there be full fat 1070 and 1080 as well but with lower boost clocks

That was my other thought - picking up one of the self-build laptops that use desktop parts isn't a bad way to go - or take advantage of USB 3.1 / Thunderbolt to use an external card.
