1080 & VGA Monitor: What Are My Options here?

edited my post, the adapter i linked to you is active and should do the resolution fine :)

edit: people seem to forget that "HD" is a resolution and higher resolutions have been around seen before "HD" was even a thing..

Description for it states 1900x1200@60... You got a link where it states otherwise or do you use it at higher res personally?

Specifically 2048x1536. If it does that then problem solved.

Reviews are terrible on that ha ha. I think if the later cards have no support then the best thing is to get that first adaptor you linked and just scale my gaming res down to 1600x1200 and also run a 1920x1080 profile for games that need that res. Settings can easily stay on ultra no problems. A slight compromise, but a way forward nonetheless.

Nah, you're good. I already have an LED. Maybe if you went further than skim reading you could have added something constructive.

But what manufacturers market as LED monitors, are in reality LCD with LED backlighting.

The only true LED monitors soon to be available are OLED (Dell is launching this year with UP3017Q), and those will be very expensive. But with the arrival of OLEDs, we can finally have screens that can match CRTs in colour reproduction especially in true blacks, which LCDs are unable to display due to the inherent limitations of that technology.

Some people seem to forget that CRT's are actually superior in some way, especially since you can change resolution without having to deal with interpolation bs..

What monitor do you have OP? Any pic? Just out of interest, I've nothing to contribute. How long have you had it? Steel reinforced desk to hold it's weight?

Wait for the cards to be released. Some third party manufacturer might include DVI-I support to differentiate themselves from the competition.

If you can afford to buy a £600 graphics card, then spending a little extra on a monitor shouldn't be a problem either.

Its just like all those who are spending about £700 on a headset, but won't spend more than about £200 on the graphics card to go with it, as they want to keep the cost down.

hp p1130. Bought brand new still on the pallet in 2013 from a Chinese student who was leaving the country. He had two (one he was using), but I just took the new one. £40 and he brought it up 4 flights of stairs so I consider it the bargain of the century. :p It's not even that heavy. I have it sitting on a little 3 drawer bedroom cabinet no problems at all. :)

It replaced a Mitsubishi Diamondtron that was coming to the end and a Sony FW900 (^good guess) that got it's screen cracked (gutted). I've always been happy with CRT's and have yet to find an LED where I can look at the screen when gaming or watching a movie and think that it's equal or better. Image quality above size all day for me.

It's not a case about the cost as people keep going on about above. I DON'T WANT AN LED. I already have a 42" SONY I could use. I don't like the quality!

I can't be the only guy out there relying on a VGA connection?

There are not many gamers using CRT's anymore, let alone using them on bedside cabinets.

People in the 21st Century tend to game at a desk, using a PC with a LCD LED backlit monitor.

Jesus Christ can people be any more snide and condescending about my choice of viewing display. It's not actually in a bedroom. It's on that little 3 drawer because it's the perfect height to be eye level as I sit in my damn wheelchair. Got a little separate table for the keyboard and mouse as well if you want to take a pop at that. Hur hur where's your desk, luddite!
People in the 21st century should have some manners as well. I'd love to come and go from my desk and office chair, but my legs don't work. Oops! I have my living room TV to my front on the wall and this little setup just to my right. It works perfectly for my needs.

I HAVE ALREADY STATED THAT I OWN A FAIRLY LARGE LED SCREEN AND I DO NOT LIKE THE IMAGE QUALITY.

How many times do I have to type something without these crap useless sneery comments? I simply ask about options and what board partners might do about their cards as they have been doing right up to 2015 and I get laughed at and likened to a dude with a B/W TV.

I used a 32" for a while because the Dark Souls games wouldn't start at anything other than 60Hz and hated the look of the screen (matte and pixelly) I then reverted when I found out about creating custom resolutions in the Nvidia control panel. I know what LED TV's are, I own them and simply don't prefer to use them. If you have nothing constructive to add other than "lol crt" could you perhaps just not bother.

You can go Displayport(PC) to Analog((VGA,DVI)MONITOR) but not the other way around so you should be fine with such a cable.

And people why TF would you care about OP using a CRT? its a preference thing so leave the guy alone.

No its the 21st century and we are suppose to be free men to choosing wtf we want to use without redicule
