My current Q6600 rig that I bought from overclockers has served me well (7 years old now!) but I think now is a good time for an upgrade after being out of the game for a while.

I'd like your recommendations on two specs please - one for a 1080p rig and a second 1440p rig capable of playing games on very high/ultra settings.

What I have now: (might be reusable)
- Antec 900 case (gets dusty as hell though)
- 8GB DDR2 RAM
- Intel quad core Q6600
- MSI HD 7850
- Corsair HX750 PSU
- 250GB SSD
- 1TB HDD
- Tunia heatsink (not sure of the model number sorry)
- Abit ip45 pro mobo
- Mouse / Keyboard

What I'd like:
- To be able to play games on ultra (or atleast very high) settings
- A nice monitor
- NVidea graphics card (had lots of issues with AMD drivers)
- Stick to Intel CPU
- Good value for money

Hopefully I'll have enough money to afford the 1440p rig!:D

Hi and welcome.

Looking at your list of parts you can reuse the,

SSD (what make and model is it?)
PSU
1Tb HDD if its SATA and not IDE?
Case (unless you would like a better one)

Yes please, I'll need a monitor too.
The SSD is a Crucial BX100 and the HDD is SATA.
I don't have a fixed budget at the moment, mainly because I have no idea of how far your money goes these days!

Thanks stulid.

Do you think i7 offers better value for money compared to the i5 for gaming?

Also, do you have any graphics card you'd recommend for 1080p gaming please?

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Would you be able to suggest a 1440p monitor to go with the build above please?

Also, I'm looking to compare with the cost of a 1080p build - which graphics card and 1080p monitor would you recommend?
