I have an LG 4K IPS monitor atm but i hate watching Youtube or any films on it as it's grainy and not very sharp when i make it full screen.

Watching the same video on my 55" 4K TV the picture is amazing for a 1080p Youtube clip, what should i do?

I can't bare go back to a 1080p monitor and a 3440x1440 is too big for what i need, can someone recommend a 2560x1440 IPS monitor please?

Depends if the viewing distances are comparable or if the TV is being viewed from further away.

How big is your 4K monitor?
I still don't understand this complaint because you get grainy images because of lower quality displays, lower resolutions and higher physical pixels sizes, not because of smaller pixels which you have.
Could you please explain or give us video of what you see?

My tv is the Samsung 55" ks7000 UHD HDR tv, it must have some processing going on as playing YouTube through the smart app looks great.

The same videos on my 4k monitor look crap when made full screen, as most of the YouTube content I watch is filmed in 1080p 60fps it loses sharpness. My monitor is 27" 4K IPS.

Maybe it's fine and I've been spoilt by the picture quality of my tv.

I'd suspect your videocard and operating system/browser could be the reason for the worsened image quality.

I'm using Windows 7, an Nvidia 1080Ti and using chrome.

I've tried FF, I won't use IE as it's poor.

4K clips looks great as do 1440p videos, it's just 1080p which looks naff.

I'll go back to 2560x1440 I think, there's only 3 YouTube channels that I watch that upload in 4K.

Try Windows 10 and Edge. And an AMD videocard, and a 4K 1.06B colours 4K display.

Do you sell your 4K LG monitor and how much do you want for it? Which model exactly is it?

I can remember when I got a 1080p TV and everything that wasn't HD content looked absolutely terrible. If it was upscaled i.e via the DVD player (PS3) it was ok but native SD content especially non-hd TV channels was just awful.

Its all down to how good the upscaling technology is. On your TV it sounds very good, better than my TV was, but in your monitor its non existant any upscaling will have to be done by software on your PC.

I guess I can hold off on a 4k TV for a while longer, then.

Depends on the scaler. SD content on my 1080p plasma looks very good. Depending on film source. DVD player is a Oppo 983, that outputs 1080p. The one in the Plasma is very good too, but I don't believe it's as good as the one in the DVD player.

I agree with this. The upscaling tech in the KS7000 is very good indeed (I have a 55KS7000) and makes an enormous difference to the picture quality non 4K sources. I frequently find it difficult to distinguish between 1080p and 4K sources. I doubt your monitor will have any built in upscaling leaving it all down to the OS/ graphic drivers. It may be worth hunting around in the graphic options to see if there are any switches for upscaling and playing about with them.
