Is it really worth getting a 1080p on a 32" set? I've been looking around and tbh I'm seriously doubting whether its worth the extra cost?!

any thoughts?

hmm... So web browsing from the sofa out of the question sat on my sofa at about 8' without a 1080p then?

Depends on your eye sight. Don't think you'll be able to read text @1920x1080 from 8' on a 32" unless you're eagle eyed. Had a 40" 1080.

Ok cool. Thanks for that. think ill go into a store and ask for demo or something to get real feel for this! cheers

Approximatly 5.5 feet viewing distance is the where a the full detail of a 1080p 42!! inch TV can be made out by a person with 20-20 vision. No doubt some people are better, and others notice less, but thats the "baseline".

A 32inch at 8ft... there's really no need for 1080p, even Pal SD is "sufficient" at that size/distance, unless you have insanely better than average eyesight.

8ft viewing distance 720p 42inch
12ft viewing distance 576p 42inch.

Its really not worth spending extra money to get the higher resolutions if you go to small, or sit too far away. On the other hand, if the prices are right, a higher resolution wont ever make the picture look worse.

I guess 32" 1080p would make for a real nice PC monitor tho? I'm tempted to go for this to replace my 2x19"'s :)

A little low res, and not the "standard" computer 16:10 aspect ratio, but yeah, 32inch 1080p TV can make a nice "low budget" screen which is easily good enough for gaming.

Why do you consider it low res? I know its the same as a 24" PC monitor but I doubt the extra 8inches makes a massive difference to the sharpness.

Im very much considering going to one for my main PC monitor but getting last minute jitters, especially as its going to cost £700...

ps3ud0

I've been using a samsung 32" 720p (N72/73 model number I think) for a good year and a bit now- has been fine for pc use. To be fair the resolution for it's size does leave a bit to be desired- but I think a 1080p one would be absolutely fine for your purposes.

Well... Right now my 19"'s are 1280 x 1024 each, giving me a total res of 2048 x1024

Going to a 1080p screen will give me a very similar res 1920 x 1080. but no join in the middle and I can sit a little further away from the screen. Plus I can watch films on it...

I don't really want any more res really, 1920 x 1080 is more than enough for me at least. :)
