1080ti from 980ti or wait?

Hi,

Having a hard time deciding... have a MSI 980ti driving a 1440p 144hz monitor and sometimes my 4k tv.

Only issues I have with my 980ti atm is how loud it is and that it struggles to hit 60 at 4k on some games with settings turned down, and to drive 144hz at 1440p

Is the upgrade to a 1080ti worth it? Or at this point is it best to just wait for Volta?

Personally I would wait. Can you put an AIO on it in the meantime to counter the noise?

Wait, I Have put AIOs on of my the my 980ti cards, much quieter.
GTX 2*** will possibly be a suitable step up.

Worth waiting, Volta is bound to support the full features of DX12/Vulkan. Maxwell/Pascal only seem to have partial support.

What AIO shall I use for my MSI 980Ti? I read I don't need VRM cooling as it already has plates on it? Will gladly do that and wait for 20xx to be fair.

NZXT and Corsair make brackets to fit a CPU AIO, I've used them successfully on my 980TIs'.
