10'c hotter!

Just installed my hyper212 evo with AS5 the temps have all dropped apart from core 4,
1,2 and 3 cores are all at 40'c +- 2'c but core 4 is at 46 - 50'c.
I applied the as5 as per the website, tint and line method. I tightned the cooler down firmly but is still the cooler is able to be twisted, do u think that it needs to be tightned down more?

I wouldn't over-tighten it, you don't want to damage the socket.

What chip is it? If its sandy having a random hot core is perfectly normal. Even under water, with a block I know is seating correctly core#1 will still randomly be 5-8c hotter than the coolest.

IB could well have the same issue as SB with regards to the odd hot core, does it even its self out a little under stress?

I will find that out tomoz when my os arrives. If it does even out does that mean its ok? And if not what could it be?

Just reset the hs, the reading now are 38/40/38/46 does that sound better?

Sounds same as you first posted.
It's safe.
Load your OS and see what it's doing under load.

the cpu wont be able to use intel speedstep until theres an os installed,so it will be running full speed/voltages in the bios hence the higher temps

once speedstep is working it will downclock in speed/voltages at idle

hopefully i will recieve my os today! Its only been 2 weeks GRR! Lol.
Oh another question... Should i leave the comp on over night to help the "bedding in period of the AS5?

My os came today, i dl'd Orthos and Real Temp. After 25mins of stressing the cpu and ram my temps are... Lowest: 29/32/32/32 and highest: 58/64/54/55 at 4ghz. Is this ok?

Iv oc'd it from 3.4 to 4ghz and just replaced the cpu cooler so the as5 is fresh. Also i tried prime95 at 100% load for 20mins and the temps are lowest: 30/30/30/30 and highest: 67/75/71/74

Suggest you stop there for now. I'm no expert but that is probably a good peak temp to live with.

thanks.. Yeah will leave it there for a month or so and see how it gets on.. Also i have oc'd my my hd7850 and is now running msi kombustor wave at 235fps lol. Chuffed.

New fans

lot long ago i got myself a hyper 212evo, just got 2 new fans (coolermaster excalubur) and fitted them to the HS, the fan that came with the evo i mounted halfway between the front mounted fan to direct the air to the GPU. my origional heat with the single fan was, lowest: 30/30/30/30 and highest: 67/75/71/74.
Now with the new setup i get, lowest: 24/26/26/26 and highest 60/71/63/69. This was after 20mins of prime95 (blend) whilst writing this

so i think its a marked improvement!

Yeah its within 2'c i have to keep my room the same temp as i have a humidor (cigars lol) if it gets too hot the humidity will drop below 72% and ruin my cigars
