I didnt even know they could make 10 mega pixel cameras, never mind phones! It's even got satellite TV!

Samsung today unveiled its first ten megapixel camera phone, pledging to ship the handset in Q2 - in plenty of time to pick up World Cup broadcasts on the device's built-in digital satellite TV tuner.

The SCH-B600's hi-res camera is augmented with 3x optical zoom and a flash - a spec akin to many compact digital cameras. Pictures are stored on the phone's internal memory or on MMCmicro memory cards, and displayed on the phone's 16m-colour display.

The handset's TV reception comes courtesy of a S-DMB (Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver. Viewers keen to relive match moments will be able to record programming on the phone at MPEG 4 files - storage capacity permitting, of course. The SCH-B600 has 128-voice polyphonic ringtone support, along with the usual MP3 playback. It will include Bluetooth.

Samsung didn't say how much the SCH-B600 will cost, but it did say it will offer the phone in South Korea for CDMA/EvDO networks. With a European roll-out in mind, the company said it is planning GSM and 3G versions too. ®

Im liking the Digital TV tuner it has. :p
I could watch the World Cup at work without taking an aerial in and hooking it up to the telly thats ment for training videos. :p

It is worth noting that Samsung have, in the past shown 5 and 7MP phones that never found their way over to europe. I'm hoping this one's different. IIRC the same day they showed one that looked very similar with a 4GB HDD in it (for mp3s)

Image resolution is starting to be less important than things like lense quality now though.

The problem with Camera phones, is that its harder to put a HQ sensor on such a small device. Increasing the resolution can compensate somewhat, but isnt the most ideal solution.

I'll stick with my w800 and upgrade to one of SE's next gen 3.2 or 4mp cameras when they come out later this year!!...

Don't tell the BBC or they'll tax you for a license. ;)
