Hey,

I'm running this rig -

Intel Q6600
Asus P5K Premium Mobo
4GB OCZ Gold RAM
Radeon 1GB HD4870

All on Windows 7, now, before my mobo had issues, I was running CoD4 at 200 FPS+, now after it's back and I updated my drivers, I get 11-17FPS on it, I am getting rather annoyed.

I think it's not the only game running slow, GRID is running slower than usual too.

Dodgy driver's?

Uninstall all of your existing driver's using a program like DriverSweeper and install them again, see if that helps.

Before you go reinstalling, do a simple restore bios to defaults, doesn't hurt to try before you spend at least an hour fussing about.

Ok, I'll try that.

When OcUK had my mobo they updated my BIOS, do you think that could be causing it?

Its possible. What went wrong with it, and how was it fixed? Can always revert to an older bios to check, but this is unlikely to be the problem. Does sound like drivers, reinstalling the os is always a good idea when changing motherboard anyway

I've got the same motherboard as you, I've not had this issue as a result of a BIOS update myself, though I have seen stranger things, mainly with ASRock boards though.

I'm at a loss at what could be causing it, though I'm not currently at the latest revision BIOS. Just give it a try, as you're not overclocked it can't hurt anything, and you can't really lose any settings that may be of terrible use to you.

Also: Were you on Windows 7 before the motherboard fault? Is it only the board that has been changed?

Also when in the BIOS make sure the PCI-E setting isn't at x1 or something instead of x16, incase the card is being bottlenecked. Don't worry if you don't have this setting.

I think that's what it is...

In the Catalyst control center it says PCI-E x2, I'll set it to x16 in the morning

Is the GPU plugged into the blue PCIe slot? The other only supports 4x as max, and 2x in compatability mode [see P2-21 of your mobo manual].

It should be in the long blue one nearest the CPU to work at 16x basically.

Edit, also, under Advanced Chipset, there is a section for Northbridge config - check the settings there, there are PCI-E settings [see P4-23-24 of the moboo manual]

Yes, it is in the blue one. And I've read I need to change my PCI-E bus frequency, I've tried 105, 110 and I'll try everything from 100 to 110 soon

Ok, a CMOS clear has made it back to x8, why is it not x16 yet?

Although, it was x1 and I could get it to x2 from changing it, which is double, if I changed frequency do you think I could get it up to x16 from changing it?
