£12 MOT's - What's the catch?

Always taken mine to the local council depot. You know they aren't going to try and rip you off. Its either Pass or Fail

There is a place near me in Crayford called Just MOTs where a few friends of mine have gone before. £35 and because they aren't a fully fitted garage, they wont try and generate work because they don't have the capacity to do it. They'll jsut do the little odds and sods that might need doing like wipers and blown bulbs. Only downside is if the cars fails you will have to find somewhere else to get the work done, but it's a good punt if you're confident the car will pass.

Edit: Apparently there's quite a few branches of this place.... http://www.justmots.eu/

This is the place I use, at the moment if you book your MOT 60 days in advance it will cost you the princely sum of £15.

They dont do repairs either so won't tuck you up with bogus repairs since doing a retest isnt in their best interest, rolled up last time at 3pm for my appointment and was done by 3:20, beats the hell out of dropping your car off at a garage all day while people are coming in an out, increasing the chances of some muppet damaging your car, not to mention the risk factor of local 17 year old trainee driving your car.
