looking for a card, can be pci-e or AGP, second hand or new but am looking to get the best bang for £££, the card will not be clocked so that doesnt matter too much, any clues ?

Secondhand you ought to start seeing 7800gt cards in your budget if they aren't already there so that is where my recommendation has to go secondhand unless you are lucky enough to find an X1800XT for that kind of price.

get the BFG 3dfuzion 7600gt, only difference from the £140 BFG one is that it has a 2 year warranty instead of a lifetime warranty and it is clocked a little slower - but you can clock it back up yourself quite easily

no clocking will be done on this, the cards not for me its for a young lads computer and as such he wont be clocking it so i need to get the card with the best ammount of power at stock which for the moment seems to be the GTO £132 inc VAT and postage

(i love how it cost me less to post a several kilo electric guitar to london via parcel force than it does for ocuk to get me a graphics card that weighs only a few grams... )

I thought you said there'd be no clocking? I was under the impression that the 7600GT was faster than the X1800GTO at stock, so you need to unlock it to get a bit more horsepower out of it.

Of course, I could be mistaken ;)

according to several reviews you are, but im sure it doesnt happen often :p ;)

stock speed X1800GTO scores around 6600 3d05 marks
stock speed 7600GT scores around 5600 3D05 Marks

i will mod the bios to open the pipes, that way he gets more umph and doesnt need to clock it (which he may screw it given he has never clocked a card before)
