120gb SSD for my dad

Hey, after a SSD for my dad to put in his...old computer.
His motherboard only has sata 2, just wants his computer to be snappier and is not prepared to upgrade his entire computer, its not bad my any stretch but it could be better.

Anyway after a 120gb SSD for cheap as possible for a decent one.
Looked at the Samsung 840 120gb but apparently its slow compared to others or something.

Anyway looking for around £50-80 max.

The Samsung I believe is only slow in write performance when compared with the like of the crucial M4 or the plexor below:

The sammys are great drives, (840 non pro 250gb here). With ssd's, read speed is more important for me as ill be reading from the drive a lot more than writing to it. Even at 130mbps, the speed difference compared to a mechanical will be very nice.

Can grab one for £74.99 (the 120g version).

That sandisk is too high :/ need to keep it 80 or under.

A review that hasn't tested the subject of the review ?

Maybe I`ve had more than one beverage.

I seem to remember installing a couple of 120GB 840's recently, and they were well fast.

THe OP needs to keep the spend under £80, but I agree that the 250gb offers very good VFM.
