123Reg forwarding question

Just a quickie. Got a domain name with 123Reg. They gave us a free holding page while we sort out hosting. I'd rather use my own server for the mo so I've pointed www. to my own server.

So, if I browse http://www.domain.com it shows my page fine, hosted from my server. However, if I do http://domain.com it still points to the 123 holding page, which, is poop.

I've been in DNS and set the @ catch all to the same IP as the WWW record but no change yet. Any idea?

treekit.com gives me '403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.'

www.treekit.com is fine.

They both resolve to the same IP (Google DNS).

It does just appear to be a web server configuration issue.

Edit:
You might want to get BT to change your rDNS so that it matches your MX. You're quite likely to get your outgoing email bounced if you don't.

You have a MX record that points mail.treekit.com at your IP. This is fine for receiving mail.

When you send mail the headers will show it as coming from mail.treekit.com with your IP address.

If the recipient does a Reverse DNS check against your IP it should come back as mail.treekit.com giving them some confidence that you really are who you say you are.

If you do a Reverse DNS check against your IP it currently returns host81-149-164-106.in-addr.btopenworld.com. This obviously doesn't match and some people, mainly larger organisations, will bounce your messages assuming that they are spam.

If you ask BT nicely they will change things so everything matches up and everyone is happy. There's information about it on BT's site here.

(I am making some assumptions about how your email is handled)

Hello,
I work for 123-reg. I just wanted to check if this issue is resolved or if I could be of any help. I have visited your blank domain and the domain using the www sub domain and can see your holding page on both now. So it would seem to be resolved.

If you do have any issues remaining or need help with anything else you can send the details over to [email protected] and I will be able to have a look for you.
Regards,
Nerys
