I've done my CBT, I'm talking about looking at bikes for sale at dealers, I presume they won't be that happy about giving a test ride to someone who only has a provisional licence (and CBT cert). So how else do you test gears/brakes/throttle etc are all in decent nick?

Ohh I see,I doubt they would let you they might let you ride round their carpark ect,or if buying used/private they might let you

Bike Trader magazine used to have an article at the front of every issue, that gives a good primer on what to look for and how to check stuff on 2nd hand bikes.

id say go for a varadero, im loving mine. i looked at a few and missed out on a few more before i got mine, i paid well over my £1500 budget

problem for me was all the varaderos i was in were miles and miles away, saw mine at a dealers after a couple of visits looking at it i paid for it and rode home.
