i notice theyve stuck a quid on the tax now so £16 a year, cant have nothing that saves you money without government sticking there oar in

How much did it cost you to go from cbt though das and on to full motorcycle license ? What advice can anyone offer on this that will minimize training costs and better chance of passing the das + theory first time ?

My costs were

£110 - CBT
£31 - Theory
£295.50 - 2 days training inc Mod 1 test
£75 - Mod 2 test fee
£140 - 2 half days training including use of bike on Mod 2

I passed my theory & Mod 1&2 first time but I did ride a 125 for 6 months after doing my CBT.

I could have saved some money by doing it all in one go but due to work hours etc I had to spread it out.

In your opinion did the 6 months of riding the 125 give you an edge when it came time to do the das ?Would you of skipped the 125 and gone straight from cbt to das if you could do it again ?

After now riding a 600 I think going from a CBT to to a 600 is a massive jump in power so if I could do it again I would still have rode the 125 first. As part of my learning I made mistakes on the 125 that I wouldn't have got away with on a 600.

I do know people that have gone straight from the CBT to the DAS and then got a 600 and they have been ok so I guess it's whatever each individual feels comfortable with.

i agree, learn the ropes on a 125,its much much lighter and nimble compared to a big heavy bike,i wouldnt have liked jumping straight on a big machine, better to build yourself up imo

CBT: £130
Bike: £380 for a 07 reg chinese bike (I've not had ANY problems with it before someone says anything :P )
Helmet: £45 Brand new
Leathers: Free
Boots: £45
Gloves: £10
Road Tax: £16
Insurance:£160

And I left it until I was 30 to do it :o

I did it. I'm over 25 drive a BMW E46 Sport and bought a Suzuki Van Van 125.

Going from 60 quid a week in Diesel to £10 a week is amazing.

Really enjoy the commute home and have been longing for the warmer weather and light nights:)

The bike is fun cheap to tax 15 quid V 200 quid for the BMW and 15 quid a month to insure.

Check out my commute home pics.

The Bike will do 60mph which is enough for pootling to work. In fact its quicker than the car because as soon as I hit the traffic after 15 miles I can weave my way through :p

Lovely pics there :)

I liked learning on a 125. They're quite fun to ride and nicely build your confidence.
