Am thinking of buying my first ipad and am looking at buying either the 128GB ipad 8th gen or the 64GB ipad Air
One the main things i like about the Ipad Air is that it has a USB-C connection, As i don't own anything with a lightning connection apart from an ATV remote :D.

Which one would you guys go for ?

If that’s your budget the only reason to go basic iPad is the 128gb storage and only you know if it’s necessary or not.
In this day and age of streaming and cloud storage I really don’t see the absolute need for anything higher than 64gb. Yes 128gb would be nice but I’m still sitting with 40+gb free on my 2018 iPad Pro.

I just got back from the apple shop and the ipad air looks so much better built quality then the standard cheaper ipad 8th gen..

I no idea how much storage size I will need as I never owned an ipad before..it mainly just going be used as a new toy :D it not going be used for work

The only thing I can see that would take up significant space is games but you’d need to download a fair few to use up the 50 or so gb free space and we’re talking high end games, not your Angry Birds of this world.

Some of the Apple Arcade games top 3gb, so it’s easy enough to fill 64gb if you’re a hoarder. Having said that, I agree that 64gb is plenty for most people and I’d go for the Air every day of the week, assuming cost isn’t an issue.

Thanks Guys

After comparing them in the shop my heart seems to be fixed on the Ipad Air, Shame they no do a 128GB version of the Ipad Air

Amazon out of stock of the Air & the standard 10.2" 8th gen and saying not back in stock till sometime in March

Looks like trying to buy the ipad you want is like trying to buy a GPU these days :(

I went shopping for an iPad a couple of weeks back and no shops in my area had them at all.

A mix of COVID and Brexit is going to delay them for a while.
That’s what I’m referring to.
It’s not a shortage / manufacturing issue.
There’s a ton sitting abroad somewhere .. getting them here is the issue

If you look around you can find most of the new iPad air options in stock ;) (Or at lest they say there in stock)

The new pro is going to be a next tier device with associated price. Unless you’re after the extra features of the pro, then the Air would be a great buy.

What would you go for between the 256gb air £725 vs the 256gb 11inch Pro £810 ?.

From what I can find the pro has over the air
Face ID
Better Camera's
Lidar Scanner
Brighter Screen (600nits vs 500nits)
120hz ProMotion screen
Four Speakers (Air has two)
8 core CPU (Air has 6 core)
Pro CPU is faster when using multi core but air is faster when using single core
Pro has More powerful GPU

The pro. The air looks good at base storage for £579. If that’s not enough local storage then it does become closer in price to the Pro.
